JAZZPAR Artists - Allan Botschinsky
Allan Botschinsky (DK), b. 1940, performed with his quintet - Allan Botschinsky (tp, flh), Jacob Fischer (g), Jesper Lundgaard (b), Alex Riel (d) - featuring Stan Sulzman (GB) (ss, as, ts, fl, cl, comp) at The JAZZPAR Event 1995.

The Danish trumpet and flugelhorn player, bandleader, composer, and record producer is one of the most distinguished and respected Danish jazz performers. Allan Botschinsky (JAZZPAR Artist 1992) was a key member of The Danish Radio Big Band for 18 years. Soon he gained a European reputation, not only as one of the finest trumpet soloists of the Continent, but also as a bandleader, composer, and arranger, etc. In consequence, he settled in Hamburg in 1985.
Botschinsky has been active within a wide spectrum of genres. But to him jazz is the great thing. With his combos, mainly playing his own compositions, Botschinsky practices an advanced, present-day and quite personal development of his old love, the timeless classic jazz quintets of the 50s and 60s. For all his modest bearing, Botschinsky has a clear conception of his situation as a European jazz artist. His logical, serene, and long lined variations really go to show once more that we have some superb and highly innovative jazz musicians on this side of the Atlantic.
