JAZZPAR Artists - John Scofield
   John Scofield (US), b. Dec. 26, 1951, was part of Hans Ulrik's JAZZPAR 99 Combo.

   John Scofield is in the very top category of jazz guitarists. He picked up guitar at age 11, inspired by rock and blues players. A local guitar teacher introduced him to the music of Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall (JAZZPAR Prize Winner 1998) and Pat Martino, thereby sparking a lifelong interest in jazz. A few highlights in a blazing career: With Dave Liebman's Quintet 1979-80, duos and trios with Steve Swallow, with Miles Davis 1982-85, with Marc Johnson's Bass Desires and leading numerous highly successful groups appearing live and on CDs.
