Kevin Hays (US), b. 1968, was part of Prize Winner Chris Potter's JAZZPAR 2000 Septet.

   Hays has toured and recorded more than a dozen albums with a roster of jazz talent including Joshua Redman, Benny Golson, Roy Haynes and Joe Henderson. He was Sonny Rollins' pianist in 1995-96 and has been a touring member of the John Scofield Group. Hays plays the piano on two Chris Potter releases on Criss Cross. As a leader Hays' first two Blue Note records concentrated on larger ensembles, while his latest Spanish influenced "Andalucia" utilizes the more traditional trio format. The tune Chickory Stick with changing meters refers to Mr. Corea - another Spanish influenced pianist who has made an impression on Hays.
